Hello, I’m Feji – Creator of vibrant nomad.

I’m Fejiro, a Canadian communications professional, and part-time English teacher, and the woman behind Vibrant Nomad. My background is in storytelling, content, and community engagement. Along the way, travel and remote work have given me room to explore what I want my everyday life to look like—and where I want to live it.

I created Vibrant Nomad to share information, honest travel stories, and practical resources for budget-conscious travellers and remote workers. In an increasingly expensive—and sometimes hostile—world, I want this space to help us explore different ways to live, support ourselves, and find community.

I’ve enjoyed the freedom of remote work since before the “pandemonium,” so I’ve had some time to figure out what works for me. I’m drawn to slower travel: staying long enough to find my favourite places to eat, establish a routine, and get a feel for life beyond the main attractions. Affordable accommodation, good food, and the possibility of building a life somewhere new will always get my attention.

As a Black woman travelling independently, I’m also interested in how we find connection and belonging wherever we go. Vibrant Nomad centres Black and Indigenous stories while welcoming thoughtful conversation and knowledge-sharing across communities. So much of what makes travel possible comes from people who share their experiences generously, and I want to contribute to that exchange.

paying travel forward

Too often, we are told that as women, we need to settle. For the job we don’t love, the partner who treats us poorly, or the place where we no longer feel we can grow. Sometimes, we are encouraged to put our own ambitions aside altogether.

Consider this a love letter to my fellow women, especially those who have ever doubted their capacity for adventure. There is a world out there to discover, and women who can help you find your way through it.

Travelling alone can still mean having people in your corner. We are a valuable resource to one another. We share the name of a trustworthy guide, recommend a neighbourhood where we felt comfortable, explain how we made our budgets stretch, and offer an honest account of what went wrong. Sometimes, we make room at our table or check that someone got home safely. These everyday acts of care can help another woman feel more confident about taking her first trip or finding her feet somewhere new.

That exchange extends to the communities we visit. We can learn from local women, support their businesses, pay fairly for their knowledge, and make time for connections beyond a transaction. The women who welcome us have their own stories, ambitions, and expertise. Meaningful travel gives us opportunities to listen, contribute, and build relationships rooted in mutual respect.

This space is here to nurture that support and remind you that there are alternatives. Together, we can share what we know about travelling, working, resting, and building lives that leave room for our own desires.

thank you for the Inspiration

I’m thankful to other nomads and travellers that have paved the way for people like me to enjoy travel in such an accessible way. If not for the resources and tips they have shared throughout the years, I would still be at a loss about designing the life of my dreams.  I would like to give a special thanks to April of Aprilmayjune.co, and Wanda of The Black Women Travel Podcast for being an inspiration for my journey, and without whose encouragement, this blog would not be possible.
